Mirko Grönroos
I enjoy building maintainable, well-running systems and staying close to interesting technology. I like helping people figure things out and tend to learn a lot myself in the process. These days the tech means TypeScript, AI agents and agentic development, computer vision, AWS, Kafka and distributed systems engineering. Most free time goes to family and cats. Beyond that I don't really know boredom, there's always something new to get into, from woodworking and electronics to armchair physics and philosophy. The occasional triathlon and a hike in Lapland when possible. I also care about doing things securely and privately, respecting right to repair and ownership, and have a lot of time for the Unix philosophy and text-based tools.
Now
Senior full stack engineer at SOK, working on store operations.
Previously
Fourteen years at Verkkokauppa.com first as a full stack developer, then as an infosec engineer, with increasing involvement in AI during the last couple of those years.
Past
Making terabytes of digital post-production workflows flow at Talvi Digital. Making internets of all sorts at Nitro.
Things I made
- Finpass — a Finnish passphrase generator. Memorable passphrases built from Finnish words
- Wheel Tension Adjuster — a small web app for calculating spoke tension adjustments when truing bicycle wheels
- Tunnel — an old school demoscene tunnel effect with a text scroller, made in Rust and compiled to WASM. The scroller text changes based on season, weekday and time of day
